Prior to joining PBM, Rusty practiced law for 14 years, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate financings and general corporate matters. During his legal career, Rusty practiced with Woods Rogers PLC, where he established the Charlottesville, Virginia office, and McGuireWoods LLP.
Rusty has represented businesses in a wide range of industries from formation through exit, including mergers and acquisitions, bank financings, contract negotiations, and financing transactions. He has also worked with private equity funds, venture capital funds and hedge funds with formation, offerings of interests to investors, and the review and negotiation of investments.
Rusty also served from 2011 to 2014 as adjunct faculty at the University of Virginia, where he oversaw the Transactional Law Clinic. Through a partnership between the University of Virginia School of Law and the Darden School of Business and its Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the Batten Institute, Rusty worked with law students in the clinic to provide free legal services to entrepreneurial ventures participating in the Darden Business Incubator.
Rusty graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia and earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
